Police reports are important in a claims process as it gives vital details regarding what happened at the time of loss. If the police have attended the scene of an accident or if you have had a burglary, we may need a copy of the police report.
In all instances we will let you know if this is required.
Either you or Trade Me Insurance can request a police report however it is usually faster for you to obtain a copy. When Trade Me Insurance requests a copy, please be aware that this can take up to 20 working days. If there are charges pending around the loss, the request may take longer.
If you would like to obtain a copy, you will need to visit or phone the police station, or contact the police officer you dealt with directly. You can search for police stations by location at the NZ Police website.
