Spectacles and personal aids

Spectacles and personal aids such as hearing aids are not covered under a standard Trade Me Insurance contents policy.

If you need cover for either of these, you will need to add an optional benefit to your policy or you won't be able to claim for these items.

Spectacles

If you have spectacles, you can add cover for these to a new policy by selecting the Spectacles benefit during the online quote process. If you already have a current contents policy, you can add it to your policy by making a change through My Insurance. There is an additional cost for this benefit.

Spectacles include prescription sunglasses.
Personal Aids

Personal aids are defined as equipment or devices that are designed to aid a disability such as but not limited to dentures, hearing aids, prosthetic limbs, wheelchairs or mobility scooters.

If you have personal aids, you can add cover for these to a new policy by selecting the Personal Aids benefit during the online quote process. If you already have a current contents policy, you can add it to your policy by making a change through My Insurance. There is an additional cost for this benefit.

If you select either of these optional benefits, you will need to list the items on your policy. If you make a claim under either the Spectacles or Personal aids benefit, you will not be charged an excess.
